“Adverse Weather Conditions”

The snow may have caused chaos across the country over the past few weeks, and indeed scuppered my original Christmas card idea, but I managed to shoot a series of images soon after the first downfall while the snow was still fresh and the novelty quite exciting.

Dusk Views

Here are a couple of shots taken last week from the roof of the Central Africa House development in Victoria.

This first image was shot on an overcast evening at the beginning of the week. The clouds were blocking most of the natural light and it created a bit of a muddy mix of colours as the lights from the capital bounced around below.

I revisited later in the week when the cold weather had taken hold and the skies were clearer. I arrived early enough to shoot the low winter sun hitting Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament. As the sun set, the dusk view became cooler and bluer than before, with the evening sky overcoming the artificial light. Definitely worth the revisit.

The 7 Hills of Croydon

Recently I went on a really fascinating guided walk around my home town of Croydon via 7 of it’s most beautiful “hills.” Okay, Croydon doesn’t have that many hills, but it does have an abundance of car parks which provided the vantage points of this local tour. Run with huge enthusiasm by architect and Croydon Council town planner, Vincent Lacovara, the walk covered Croydon’s ambitious post-war regeneration, all the way through to it’s slightly unsure identity today.

SHIFT: Framing a City in Constant Motion

These images were taken as part of a group exhibition held in London in October 2009. As the title suggests, I was interested in looking at how Londoners’ move about their city.

The show, sponsored by Canon, Fuji, and Genesis Imaging amongst others, was a great success and attracted a good number of visitors as well as various media attention.
